Helping Others

At TCLC we help each other, the community, and the world with compassion and support, sharing God’s grace and the Good News by word and deed. We’ve found many ways to serve!

  • Bread of Life Food Pantry ~ Open Mondays 10am-12pm; serves 30 – 50 area families each week.
  • Homeless and the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) ~ Triumphant Cross is a Host Congregation in the IHN, providing overnight hospitality to homeless families 4-5 times per year, for a week at a time, in our church building. This collaboration with area churches to provide housing and services to homeless families is run by Family Promise of Greater Rockingham County (www.familypromisegrc.org). The IHN serves 3-5 families at a time, helping them address the issues that led to homelessness and get back on their feet, into permanent housing.
  • Parish Nursing ~ Provides free blood pressure screenings at Fellowship Coffee Hour, keeps an informative bulletin board, sends caring cards to members (special birthdays, milestones, losses), maintains the Prayer Concerns list, and held its first Health Fair in 2009.
  • Crop Walk ~ Held in May; raises money for World Hunger and to help local food pantries.
  • ELCA World Hunger campaign ~ In 2009 the youth drove this fundraiser which went to purchase farm animals to help impoverished families through Heifer International.
  • Red Cross Blood Drive ~ Held annually at TCLC.
  • Thanksgiving Bags ~ TCLC members donate bags of complete Thanksgiving dinners distributed to needy Salem residents.
  • LSS Christmas Gifts ~ TCLC members purchase requested Christmas gifts for Lutheran Social Services foster children.
  • Inreach to TCLC members ~ Nursing home and shut-in visits, meals for families coping with hospitalization/injury or other difficulties, transportation, Memorial Meals to follow memorial/funeral services.
